STATE AND FEDERAL PROGRAMS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE HABITAT
Aquatic Nuisance Species After habitat loss, aquatic nuisance species pose the greatest threat to Puget Sound ’s biological diversity. The Puget Sound Partnership is working with state agencies and other groups to identify, control and/or non-native species that pose a threat to the environmental health of the basin.
Aquatic Reserves Program Part of Washington State’s Department of Natural Resources. Promotes preservation, restoration and enhancement of state-owned aquatic lands—sites that benefit the health of native aquatic habitat and species in the state.
Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) CREP is administered by the Washington State Conservation Commission and the Farm Services Agency (FSA). The program provides incentives to property owners to restore and improve salmon and steelhead habitat on private land.
