Advance work jump-starts Action Agenda development
By September 2008, the Puget Sound Partnership must present the 2020 Action Agenda for restoring the health of Puget Sound to the Governor and the citizens of Washington State.
This agenda will be developed through an inclusive process, in collaboration with governments, tribes, scientists, businesses and citizens.
During spring 2007, small teams of experts convened to prepare short papers that could help the Partnership’s new Leadership Council and executive director better understand the scientific certainties and uncertainties in some key topic areas. These papers also recommend the types of analyses—or studies—that could be conducted in the coming months and years to identify and increase confidence in the strategies and actions that might be included in the 2020 Action Agenda. The teams also recommended appropriate policy studies that would benefit the development of the Action Agenda.
The purpose of bringing these individuals together was to identify the studies needed in their areas of expertise to inform and jumpstart development of the Action Agenda. The teams were clearly directed to not begin work on the actual Action Agenda.
